Extending a period property requires materials that respect the original character while meeting modern building standards. In this Northamptonshire village project, our client set out to extend an 1800s cottage without compromising its historic appearance.
To achieve this, we supplied our Northamptonshire Grey Building Stone - a premium grey limestone chosen for its durability, natural variation, and close compatibility with traditional local architecture.

A key priority for this project was ensuring the new extension blended effortlessly with the original cottage. The natural tones of the limestone provided an excellent match to the existing stonework, allowing the extension to sit comfortably alongside the historic structure.

To further enhance authenticity, we also supplied bespoke reclaimed limestone quoins. These were carefully selected and crafted to complement both the new stone and the original building, helping to tie the entire façade together and reinforce the traditional character of the property.
In addition to achieving the right look, practicality on site was equally important. Our cropped stone is precision cut to consistent bed depths and course heights, enabling the stonemasons to build efficiently with minimal on-site adjustment.
This level of accuracy reduced installation time and ensured clean, consistent coursing throughout the build - delivering both speed and quality.

This extension was built by Stamford Stonework & Construction Ltd.
